Tips for writing travellers

WritingTravellers open guidebooks: written by travellers and locals, printed specially for you.
Here are some tips for you as a writing traveller to become more effective and admired in your work.
  • Whilst waiting somewhere during your travels, write down some notes about your experiences.
  • If you are in a place that should be in the guidebook, ask for business cards or a brochure. Write down the opening hours and take the bill with you (most of the bills contain address information).
  • Have a chat with the owner/staff to get some inside information.
  • Try to find more writers or co-writers.
  • Collect whatever information you can lay your hands on, like brochures in hotels, tourist information brochures, etc. These will give you a good idea of what to do and write about.
  • Look around for options & list down the details when it comes to accommodation, eating-out, pubs, discos etc - More options means more flexibility. If you stick to one particular place alone, you might end up missing a better or equally good option probably just around the corner.
  • Take a lot of pictures! High resolution and don’t forget it is for a guidebook!
  • Take pictures of the signs with opening hours, addresses, prices, etc instead of writing them down.
This list is editable, so add your own tips and tricks on how to become a good writing traveller!
